I don’t know about you, but summer BBQs are one of my FAV parts of this time of year. It’s nothing but good food, good laughs, and good times surrounded by friends and family. It’s always a party, and who doesn’t love a grand old party?!
One thing that is difficult to avoid, however, is the major potential for a high caloric intake at these types of events! Doesn’t it seem ironic that we are surrounded most often by this fattening, processed BBQ fare throughout the season in which we want to look good in our itsy bitsy teenie weenie bikinis! 😉
Well, luckily, I’m here today with two healthy alternatives to the greasy, salty, indulgent traditional BBQ food and drinks we all know and love (and, of course, all indulge in here and there, which is totally fine!)
That being said, first, we drink! Looking for a low carb, low cal, flavorful summer cocktail? Try my “Fruit Infused Summer Spritzer.” It’s delicious, refreshing, and just sweet enough with the use of naturally infused flavors. Most importantly, it’s a great alternative to other drinks that are often high in cals, carbs, and refined sugars. It’s light, and won’t bloat you like other summer drinks. Not to mention, it’s pretty, too!
You can find this quick recipe on my “Recipes” page. Oh, and don’t worry, this isn’t bartending school! Making my “Fruit Infused Summer Spritzer” is as easy as 1-2-3, with vodka, club soda, and a few freshly squeezed slices of fruit as it’s ingredients! I’ll *cheers* to that, my friends!
Next, we eat! I had a bunch of amazing friends to my house by the beach this past weekend for a very special birthday celebration. Needless to say, we had a blast, but being that we were having such a grand old time, I still did my best to make small, yet significant healthier choices. So, instead of indulging in a cheeseburger, hot dog, or meat filled sandwich (which is totally fine now and then – I mean come on, it’s summertime!), I decided to throw some of my “Basil Infused Portobello Burgers” on the grill instead! They’re lighter, easier to cook, and less expensive, too!
All I can say about these babies is: O. M. G. Imagine eating a lighter, meatless version of filet mignon, but equally juicy, flavorful, and satisfying. You have GOT to try my “Basil Infused Portobello Burgers” with your “Fruit Infused Summer Spritzer.” You won’t be sorry, and you won’t be too full, either! Find this recipe as well on my “Recipes” page.
These are a few of my summer loves! ❤
Stay balanced. Stay fun. Much love 😉
