The other day I introduced to FSS readers the heaven sent guilt free pasta: Shirataki Noodles; why they are my favorite, where to find them, their nutritional facts, and how to prepare them for cooking.  I also mentioned the tons of healthy alternative pasta dishes I have created, and continue to create, in the FSS kitchen using these amazing tofu noodles.

Today, I share with you all A Clean Foodie’s Pesto Dish, a healthy alternative recipe for one of my favorite pasta dishes of all time!  A lifelong lover of fresh basil from the garden as an ingredient in just about anything, there is nothing quite like the combination of garden-fresh, rich, creamy, and robust flavors of homemade pesto sauce over fresh linguine on a beautiful, breezy summer night.

However, as delicious as it is, I am not an avid lover of the large amount of pine nuts, olive oil, and cheese involved in creating this classic favorite.  Although this can be a garden fresh recipe, traditional pesto sauce is very high in fats, sodium, and oils.  That being said, this recipe should really only be enjoyed in moderation.
